Zardoz (1974) 5/26

Join us for 2-4-1 cocktails and possibly one of the worst movies, ever, tonight at JagerCon!

Clubhouse Jager
923 Washington Avenue N
Minneapolis

10 p.m. / Free

In the distant future Earth is divided into two camps, the barely civilized group and the overly civilized one with mental powers. A plague is attacking the second group, after which its members cease to have any interest in life and become nearly catatonic. When Zed, one of the barbarians, crosses over, the tenuous balance in their world is threatened.

Squad 19 will be producing another limited edition print for this one! Anyone wearing an orange loin cloth will for sure get one. Anyone NOT wearing an orange loin cloth will just have to take their chances.

Nerds Driven out of Ireland

Due to all the wild St. Patrick's Day shenannies, JAGERCON has been canceled this week considering the bar will most likely be too rowdy for nerdy movie viewing. We WILL be screening Labyrinth AND Tron next Tuesday, March 24th, however, so save the date and don't forget to reinforce your glasses with plenty of tape!

JagerCon A-Listed in City Pages AND Vita.mn

The media loves nerds and we love the media!

City Pages says:

It's sometimes hard to find your place on the barhopping circuit when you are a geek, a freak, or a nerd. But that doesn't mean we don't enjoy a beer over a lengthy discussion on the use of bezoars in literature or why you ship Buffy/Spike over Buffy/Angel. Thankfully Clubhouse Jäger plans to turn Tuesday nights into a nerd summit for the socially awkward, overly enthusiastic, and sexy-but-bookish out there. Hosted by l'etoile magazine's Kate Iverson and Beth Hammarlund, Sci-Fi Tuesdays will feature screenings of sci-fi movies plus two-for-ones throughout the night. This week's screening is MirrorMask, a coming-of-age tale about a girl sucked into a visually stunning, bizarre alternate universe. Yeah, it's a Dave McKean/Neil Gaiman collaboration. Following weeks will feature the director's cut of Bladerunner, and a double-header screening of Forbidden Planet and Angry Red Planet. Twelve-sided dice and strong opinions on gaming strategies optional. 21+.

Vita.mn says:

L’Etoile Magazine’s new weekly night at Clubhouse Jäger encourages you to embrace your inner nerd. Nerdettes Kate Iverson and Beth Hammarlund of L’Etoile will screen their favorite nerdy movies and TV shows, including “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” “Dr. Who,” “Battlestar Galactica,” “Firefly,” “Star Trek” and more, plus two-for-one drink specials all night. This week’s screening is “MirrorMask,” the 2005 fantasy film written by Twin Cities author Neil Gaiman. It wouldn’t be L’Etoile if it weren’t stylish, so expect hipster lens-less eyeglasses rather than the real thing. -Jahna Peloquin

While we're on the topic, check out the trailer for this week's flick, Mirrormask, from the amazing mind of Neil Gaiman!

Join us for JagerCon Sci-Fi Tuesdays!

JagerCon: Sci-Fi Tuesdays

@ Clubhouse Jager
923 Washington Avenue N.
Minneapolis

Every Tuesday
10 p.m. / 21+ / Free

Join hosts Kate Iverson (l'etoile magazine, Secrets of the City) and Beth Hammarlund (l'etoile magazine, A Tiny Machine) every Tuesday Night for JagerCon! JagerCon is a weekly sci-fi party featuring screenings of classic nerdy movies and television shows such as Buffy, Firefly, V, Star Trek, Blade Runner, Forbidden Planet and more -- topped off with 2-4-1 cocktails all night served by Star Captain Paul!

Mingle with like-minded sci-fi geeks, discuss D&D strategies, and use that Captain Picard impression you've been perfecting to pick up chicks at the bar. Snort-laugh the night away while bragging about your MMORPG addiction and enjoy a cozy, nerd-friendly environment.

Kate and Beth are life-long sci-fi fans who also dabble in art and fashion. They appreciate Joss Whedon, Karl Lagerfeld, and Matthew Barney on the same level. They can also party like Sci-Fi Conventioneers. Kate and Beth strive to unite the segmented nerd culture of the Twin Cities the only way they know how: with alcohol and awesome Sci-Fi entertainment.

Who knows, you might meet a new friend!

Me: Black trench coat with Star Fleet emblem embroidered on the breast, sullenly sipping a Mike's Hard Lemonade and muttering about samurai swords in the corner.

You: Giving off a sexy medieval wench vibe, animatedly debating your friend about which Doctor Who is the hottest.

I thought I felt our psychic ESP matrixes click, was I dreaming? I couldn't help but notice the sideways look you gave me when they were playing the deleted scenes from "Serenity." I wasn't sure if you had something in your eye, or if my Darth Vader heavy-breathing impression was creeping you out. Either way, I've got enough limited edition Batman comic books to line our marriage bed ten times over.

I'll be at the screening next week, if you're nasty.
