From Friday's A+E Section of the Star Tribune:
Night of the Living Nerds
These days, it's good to be a geek.
Geeks have taken over the movie industry (how many superhero movies did you see last year?) and even that über-geek, Conan O'Brien, is bumping Jay Leno from "The Tonight Show."
Now the geeks are taking over one of the Twin Cities' coolest bars, Clubhouse Jäger. A new weekly night called "JagerCon: Sci-Fi Tuesdays" invites bargoers to "mingle with like-minded sci-fi geeks, discuss 'D&D' strategies and use that Captain Picard impression you've been perfecting to pick up chicks at the bar."
Each week, a different movie from the sci-fi pantheon is screened above the dance floor. This Tuesday it's the director's cut of the 1982 Harrison Ford film "Blade Runner." The night was created by two L'Etoile magazine alums, Kate Iverson and Beth Hammarlund. They will also screen TV shows such as "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Star Trek."
To help their fellow geeks open up a bit, the bar will offer two-for-one drinks all night.
